BLOGGING TIPS

What can ya tell from lookin’ at it?

Can ya tell what I write about? Can ya tell how useful my posts are? Can ya tell how well written they are?

No? None of these? Good. Because they don’t really matter.

Try these: Can ya tell that I’m edgy? Can ya tell that I have an attitude? Can ya tell that I’m not afraid to speak my mind, and am probably more likely to just for the hell of gettin’ a rise out of ya?!

I thought so. And that’s exactly what I want.

What I’m about to tell you really is the biggest dirty little secret in blogging…

Every last bit of information in any post on any blog out there is reproducible.

Before goin’ any further, let me make it very clear that the actual post or even just a portion of it is NOT reproducible, as to do so would violate the owner’s copyright. However, the information contained in the post most certainly IS reproducible. What this means is that you’re free to read a post on any blog out there and reproduce the same info or advice as long as it’s entirely in your own words and organization.

Now, I’m not gonna take this post in that direction, which is to tell you all that blogging is easy; just find a good post on another blog each day, rewrite it in your own words, and post it. (Hell, you can just pick your fave blog and reproduce the info from every post in your own blog.)

Instead, I’m gonna tell you the real key to successful blogging: personality.

If all the blogs out there contain the same info, which they do, just written in each blogger’s own voice, it makes sense that a blogger’s personality is what’ll distinguish his blog from others.

Right now, EVERYONE’s makin’ money blogging. I hate to burst some bubbles here, but this isn’t gonna last. Eventually, readers are gonna stop goin’ to a site every day JUST because they heard its makin’ a lot of money, and instead begin to look for quality blogs. Blogs with somethin’ more than just a few posts containing info that can be found plenty of other places on the web.

This is where your personality comes in. Look, I hate to get personal, but the fact of the matter is that guys like John Chow (www.johnchow.com) and Jeremy Schoemaker (www.shoemoney.com) are just plain dorks. I mean c’mon, would you REALLY want to hang with either of ‘em on a weekend?! Haha. Take a look:

John Chow
Jeremy “Shoemoney” Schoemaker

On top of that, the content of their blogs is absolute sh…. Sorry, CRAP. Episodes of Lost? Last night’s dinner? Are you kidding me?! Without any personality, not to mention any quality posts, these guys will soon see an end to their success, and those of us with personalities, who you’d wanna kick it with on the weekend, who let our personalities come out in our blogs, will be the only top dogs left.

How do I know this? Because I’ve seen it. Because I’ve lived it. From June 2007 to December 2007, I grew my profits from less than $300 that first month to over $10,000 in December – the most explosive blog ever in terms of monetary growth. The key to my success has been throwin’ my personality out there. I’m fresh, I’m hip, I’m edgy, I’m fun, I’m rockin’. And I know it. And you love it. Haha.

THAT is how you make sick money. THAT is how you create a blog that’ll see success in the long run. Let your personality come out in your blog. Show your readers who you are. And PLEASE try to give them someone a LITTLE more personable than Chow and Shoemoney.
